ASSOC PROFESSOR MARK BAILDON

Mark Baildon is an Associate Professor in Foundations of Education at the United Arab Emirates University (UAEU). Prior to Mark's appointment at UAEU, he served as Head of the Humanities and Social Studies Education Academic Group and as Associate Dean (Partnerships & Analytics) in the Office of Education Research in the National Institute of Education (NIE), Nanyang Technological University. Prior to joining NIE, Mark taught social studies in the United States, Israel, Singapore, Saudi Arabia, and Taiwan. His scholarly interests focus on ways to support social studies inquiry practices, global citizenship education and 21st century literacies in new global contexts. Mark is currently on the Board of Directors for Warm Heart Worldwide, a community development foundation focused on children's empowerment, sustainable development & livelihoods, and eldercare. Mark have a couple of new books that should be out spring 2022: How to Confront Denial: Literacy Social Studies, and Climate Change (with James Damico, Teachers College Press) and a co-edited volume (with Seah Lay Hoon & Rita Silver, Springer) on the role of teachers' knowledge of language in teaching.
