MR CHARLES LOW

Mr Charles Low is currently Director/Student Development in Hwa Chong Institution, Singapore. An English Language and Literature in English teacher by training, he has been in the education service for 28 years, most of which have been in his current school. He was formerly Director/ProEd Consortium from 2007-2018 and it was during that period that he had the privilege of meeting Seligman, Diener, Csikszentmihalyi and a host of other PP advocates at the 2nd World Congress on Positive Psychology in Philadelphia in 2011. He considers that meeting to be a watershed in his journey as an educator. Together with a core team of teachers, he set about building up a school culture based on PosEd principles for his consortium. The transformative experience as they journeyed through 2012-2018 proved to be meaningful and memorable not just for the students and staff but for the parents as well. In his current appointment, he is working with a larger team to build a PosEd culture and community in the school. Charles is an advocate for PosEd approaches in education, establishing win-win partnerships with parents and well-being for all.
